John F. Kennedy was another one of our greatest Democratic presidents in office. He was the 35th president of the U.S, and he was in office from January 20, 1961, till November 22, 1963. His vice president was Lyndon B. Johnson. He was born May 29, 1917, in Brookline, MA. He served in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1945 and he was a war hero. Lieutenant John F. Kennedy encountered a Japanese destroyer on August 1, 1943, and it is said it may be the most famous small-craft engagement in naval history.

During Kennedy’s presidency, Kennedy dealt with many issues. Kennedy dealt with the Cuban Missile, the Cold War, he had to manage relations with the Soviet Union, and helped with civil rights by presiding the Peace Corps. The Cuban Missile Crisis was a scary issue that Kennedy dealt with. What happened in the Cuban Missile Crisis was two CIA U-2 spy planes flew and took photographs of the Soviets’ construction of intermediate-range ballistic missile sites in Cuba. The pictures were sent to Kennedy and were taken as a nuclear threat and was hidden from the public which he later apologized for doing.
Kennedy was a great leader that America needed. He is considered as one of the greatest what if’s because he, unfortunately, was assassinated on November 22, 1963. He was assassinated during a parade in Dallas TX by Lee Harvey Oswald. After his death, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn into office.
“And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you–ask what you can do for your country.”
– John F. Kennedy

I enjoy your blog a lot. I like that you went in depth about his life. I like that you provided information that we didn’t even learn about in modern american history.

I like this post because I like history and JFK. I once did a presentation on him last year. I think Mr. Bierbaum would be very proud of you.

I have looked into J.F.K. a lot since learning about him in history class. I really do think that he was one of our greatest presidents with everything that he did for people of the U.S. Do you think that there were some situations that he could have handled better?
